MEET OUR BOARD

My family moved to Galloway Village from Memphis, TN, in 2004. We have thoroughly enjoyed raising our 3 children in this historic, scenic area. We have made many lasting memories in Galloway, from witnessing a wrecking ball demolish the Ash Grove Lime Plant to seeing hundreds of bats fly across Barton Road, heading out for their nightly hunt. My favorite things about living in Galloway Village are the sense of community, the wildlife, and the convenience to area businesses.

My husband and I are new to Missouri, new to Springfield, and new to Galloway, and I couldn't be happier. After 30 years as business owners in Oklahoma, it was time for a change. My mom, dad, sister, and her family all live in Springfield, and I am enjoying being close to them. As an avid gardener and nature lover, Galloway feels darn near perfect to me. I love that I can sit in my backyard and see deer and turkeys wander through the valley, and yet I am minutes from all the amenities of Springfield. Often, I find myself thinking, "Is this place real?" I already feel in my bones that Galloway Village is a special place and I am excited for the opportunity to meet and work with others who feel the same way and want to do what they can to protect it.

My husband, Bart, and I have lived in Galloway since 1996, and we raised our two boys right here in this wonderful neighborhood. They grew up hanging out at Sequiota Park and running or biking along the trail—it’s been a huge part of our family’s story. But our roots here go back even further. In 1992, we started About Faces Photography in the building directly across from Sequiota Park. From day one, we knew this place was special. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep passion for protecting the park and this amazing neighborhood so that other families can experience the same kind of joy and connection that ours has. The fight to protect our neighborhood and the park was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced—but it was absolutely worth it. In fact, I’m truly grateful for that struggle. It brought me closer to neighbors who have become lifelong friends and helped create a stronger, more united community. Galloway Rocks! 💚

My family has lived and worked in the Galloway area since the early 1900's. Words can not describe how great it was to grow up in this area. Galloway is rich in history and richer in loving and caring families. Many founding families or their descendants still reside here. > I initially got involved with GVNA after hearing life long residents voicing concerns about their family properties. I continue to be involved to help future residents. > Having grown up in Galloway, I of course went to Sequiota School. In 1971, Sequiota 5th graders researched and compiled a book about Galloway. Although I was too young to have been involved with the creation of this book, I still love the dedication of it. It is as follows, "To all future Generations of Galloway. Love your land as we have." My hope is to be part of a group and generation that still sees value in preserving and protecting the character, green spaces and the wildlife of Galloway so children in future generations can also say, Galloway was a great place to grow up.

My husband and I moved to Galloway Village in 2000. We have always loved this beautiful part of town since my sister Holly and her family lived here for 20 years prior. We raised two boys here; one of whom loved it so much he and his wife built a house next door. The best part of our evenings is enjoying the wildlife, making s’mores over a fire, and watching the granddaughters catch fireflies. The nature and all the green space makes this area very special. The neighbors and community make this a unique, lovely place to call home. Stuart and I have been honored to do our part to help nurture and protect Galloway Village.
